ETERNAL WISDOM
A reading from the Gospel of Matthew:
36 Master, which is the greatest commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said to him: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with thy whole mind.
38 This is the greatest and the first commandment.
39 And the second is like to this: “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”
40 On these two commandments dependeth the whole law and the prophets.1
THE ROSARY HOUR PODCAST | FEBRUARY 24, 2025
ANNIVERSARY OF THE 8th APPARITION AT LOURDES | 1ST EDITION
Dear friends who are called, who are dear to God the Father and kept safe for Jesus Christ, we wish you all mercy and peace and love!
Yesterday’s reading from the Gospel of Luke challenges us to rediscover the purpose of a “gift” and rediscover in our times what it means “to give like God”.
In the first part of his “Sunday Sermon,” posted yesterday, Bishop Robert Barron provides a way to enter into this idea of “the gift” as a means by which we might begin to grasp Jesus’s teaching which itself transforms the morphing relativism which drives the ‘philosophy’ of giving and which resists the model of Jesus whose Divinity calls us to “give” by acts of pure “love”.
Father Anthony Gramlich, MIC returns to our podcast to talk about the virtue of Love in the above video trailer. We invite you to be part of our latest “Encontro” for 2025.
In this upcoming roundtable on "The Christian Meaning of Suffering", available to our readers on First Saturday, March 1, Fr. Elias and Blythe Kaufman join this conerstaion.

PENANCE! PENANCE! PENANCE! LOURDES: A BRIDGE CROSSING A CHASM
As Pilgrims of Hope, we are called first and foremost to the great mission of becoming Holy, and to giving witness to things unseen.
Today we celebrate the School of the Supernatural in Lourdes where 18 Church approved Apparitions of Our Lady of Lourdes in France are recalled since Feburary 11.
On February 24, 1858, St. Bernadette heard the following words:
“Penance! Penance! Penance!
Pray to God for sinners.
Kiss the ground as an act of penance for sinners!”
ACTS OF PENANCE FOR THE CONVERSION OF SINNERS
There are many ways in which St. Bernadette made sacrifices for sinners to help them achieve their goal of reaching Heaven.
This Divine Commission of the Church that would be passed on in a unique way to the 3 Shepherd children at Fátima in Portugal — who creatively found every way to pray for Souls.
Fr. Thaddaeus Lancton’s helpful insights on ways to obtain plenary indulgences for oneself and for the Holy Souls in the Jubilee 2025 ordinary reminds us of Pope Francis’s call that we become Holy.
This special invitation to all of the Mystical Body of Christ to pray for an abundance of grace at this historical moment in the world inspires us to rediscover how to meet the conditions for obtaining a plenary indulgence in the first place.
HOW DO I RECEIVE THE GRACES FROM A PLENARY INDULGENCE?
Fr. Thaddaeus Lancton, MIC has been our lead podcast Spiritual Director in regard, guiding our Rosary Hour Podcast listeners and subscribers in this teaching which encourages the “how” of prayer for Holy Souls.
In the above video, he further explores the why of obtaining a specific plenary indulgence for friends and family who have passed into Eternal Life and who are suffering in Purgatory by receiving the Holy Communion for them as a Proxy.
This service to Holy Souls is a way to live the Gospel readings from this weekend, as this act of reparation recognizes how the Holy Souls depend wholly upon our prayers for their relief from that suffering as they can no longer pray for themselves.
AN UNFATHOMABLE GIFT TO HOLY SOULS | HOLY COMMUNION PROXY
The word Proxy is a noun that means also:
deputy
representative
substitute
delegate
agent
surrogate
stand-in
attorney
ambassador
emissary
go-between
envoy
etc.
A SPIRITUAL BOUQUET FOR HOLY SOUL?
Fr. Thad notes that first, to be a proxy for a Holy Soul requires Faith.
This belief that we can be emissaries to receive the Holy Communion for a Holy Soul provides a very special opportunity to pray in solidarity with those who have gone before us.
WHERE IS THE INFORMATION ABOUT PLENARY INDULGENCES WRITTEN?
All of the Faithful around the world can benefit from reviewing both for ourselves and others how the grace of a Plenary Indulgence can be obtained during the Jubilee 2025 Ordinary.
To begin, this information can be found easily in the documented Bull of Indiction for the Ordinary Jubilee of the Year 2025, Spes non confundit (9th May 2024.
This knowledge is very special because it can become for yourself and for Holy Souls something that might draw grace into the world.
HOW IS AN INDULGENCE IS AN EXPRESSION OF GOD’S MERCY?
An “Indulgence” is simply an expression of God's unfathomable mercy.
In many ways, we cannot separate Divine Mercy from the Holy Rosary, for it is through Our Lady’s Psalter that we come to internalize the timeline of salvation history by getting to know Jesus Christ through meditating upon Holy Scripture and by sanctifying our lives with the prayers of the Heart: the Holy Rosary.
After five years of rediscovering the message of Divine Mercy which Fr. Seraphim Michalenko defines as learning to “forgive the unforgivable and to love the unloveable”, we can understand why God's mercy becomes the:
"indulgence on the part of the Father who, through the Bride of Christ, his Church, reaches the pardoned sinner and frees him or her from every residue left by the consequences of sin".
The Holy Father declares that the gift of the Indulgence
“is a way of discovering the unlimited nature of God’s mercy.”
Also,
“Not by chance, for the ancients, the terms ‘mercy’ and ‘indulgence’ were interchangeable,
as expressions of the fullness of God’s forgiveness, which knows no bounds"
and frees him from every residue left by the consequences of sin.”
Thus, the Holy Father invites us to discover this gift of the Jubilee Indulgence as decreed May 13, 2024 (Feast of Our Lady of Fátima): CLICK HERE TO REVIEW
“The indulgence, in fact, allows us to discover the unlimited nature of God's mercy.”

DECREE
THE APOSTOLIC PENITENTIARY, with the purpose of increasing the piety of the faithful and the salvation of souls, by virtue of the faculties bestowed upon him in a most special way by our Most Holy Father in Christ Our Lord, POPE FRANCIS, BY DIVINE PROVIDENCE, attentively considering the recent petitions presented by His Excellency ALDO CAVALLI, Titular Archbishop of Vibo, Apostolic Visitor for the Parish of Saint James the Apostle in Medjugorje, of the Diocese of Mostar-Duvno, graciously grants a PLENARY INDULGENCE from the treasury of the Church's heavenly mercy, under the usual conditions (sacramental Confession, Eucharistic Communion, and prayer for the intentions of the Supreme Pontiff), to the faithful who are truly penitent and moved by charity, which they can obtain throughout the Ordinary JUBILEE YEAR OF 2025, and which they can also use as a prayer for the souls of the faithful in purgatory if they make a pilgrimage to the PARISH CHURCH OF ST. JAMES THE APOSTLE IN MEDJUGORJE and devoutly participate in the Jubilee rites there or at least dedicate appropriate time to pious prayers, including the Lord's Prayer, the Creed and the invocations of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The elderly, the infirm, and all those who for serious reasons cannot leave their homes, can likewise obtain the Plenary Indulgence, having conceived the intention of detachment from any sin and with the intention of fulfilling, as soon as they are able, the three usual conditions, if they spiritually unite themselves to the jubilee celebrations, offering their prayers, sufferings, or the inconveniences of their own lives to the merciful God.
Therefore, to facilitate access to divine forgiveness through the keys of the Church out of pastoral charity, this Penitentiary earnestly requests that priests endowed with appropriate faculties to hear confessions make themselves available with a prompt, generous, and merciful spirit for the celebration of Penance.
This decree is valid throughout the Ordinary Jubilee Year of 2025. No contrary provisions shall hinder its execution.
Given in Rome, at the Apostolic Penitentiary, on the 24th day of December, in the year of the Incarnation of the Lord 2024.
