To those who are called, to those who are dear to God the Father and kept safe for Jesus Christ: we wish you all mercy and peace and love.
Please join us in thanking God at this historical moment for the descent of the Holy Spirit on the conclave. Let us be grateful for the smooth election of Pope Leo XIV, renowned for his reputation among the Bishops and the Church hierarchy as an intelligent, missionary, grounded in prayer and with extensive pastoral experience in both the local and global spheres, including South America.
As the successor of Saint Peter now named the Shepherd of the Church — he now takes on the role of the “primacy of jurisdiction over the whole Church of God”, a role bestowed “immediately and directly” and which was first “promised to the blessed apostle [St.] Peter and conferred on him by Christ the Lord”. He also brings with him an understanding of the value of Catholic social teaching within the context of the paradoxes and struggles of democracy in our times.

A MARIAN POPE FOR OUR TIMES | MUSINGS ON POPE LEO XVI
Pope Leo XIV’s prayer of the Avé Maria in his speech yesterday in St. Peter’s Square demonstrated to the world his interior conviction in the prominence of Our Lady in the Church in 2025 — making a statement that claries the solidarity of his papacy with the Marian focus that of Pope Leo XIII manifested in his writings.
Like his predecessor, St. John Paul II, this recently named servant of the servants of God now aligns himself with the other Rosary Popes who have not only made known through their encyclicals on the Holy Rosary the powerful intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary in our world, but also the very pope who included St. Michael the Archangel in the Low Mass as a mandatory response to the evils of his times, mandating that after the Mass we pray on our knees:

DIVINE PROVIDENCE & Acknowledging St. Therese's Devotion May 17, 2025
Heaven is not without clarity when such moments of Divine Providence emerge, for this prayer to the Queen of Angels also occurs on May 8th, which many other news casters have happened to remember — for yesterday was also the memorial of the apparition of St. Michael the Archangel in Gargano, Italy, which we posted about on September 29th last year.
In moments such as these, the Church militant knows these happenings are not coincidental — but as Fr. Elias has taught many times — “they are God’s way of remaining anonymous”.
That the choice of the new Pope comes to us on this important day, as we reflect the day after for 9 days the 100th Anniversary of the Canonization of St. Therese of Lisieux, we can look to the events of the last 24 hours as a powerful reminder of our necessary reliance upon the angels of God and the Communion of Saints to guide us at this hour of decision — at this important and exceptional juncture in human history.
Likewise, in today’s video, Fr. Nuno Rocha teaches from Portugal the prayer of Reparation taught to St. Jacinta, St. Francisco and Venerable Lucia, a prayer so foundational to the Eucharistic experience in the North and to the Solemn Rosary for Terço das Crianças, a movement which celebrates its own century of reflection on the efforts made by pastors who came before him in the city of the Rosary and who led Eucharistic Crusades with children in the thousands attending Masses of Reparation. It is no wonder that saints like Beata Alexandrina might be raised in the backdrop of this focus on the Real Presence.
